Pegasus rises into the evening sky, as we journey toward the equinox...

1st

Aurigids meteor shower peak

This meteor shower is a little unpredictable, the show depending on whether we approach a dense part of the cloud left over from Comet Kiess, as happened in 2007.

Full moon under the stars of Pegasus the Winged Horse

This full moon is accompanied by a total lunar eclipse, visible from a large part of Europe, Russia, most of Africa, Antarctica and Oceania (16:27 - 19:56 UTC).

The stars of Aquarius and Pisces frame the lunar orb, with the stars of Pegasus above.  The Winged Horse is the guide for this full moon, which reflects where we are, between the ages of Pisces and Aquarius.  Beautiful days everyone!

12th

Waning moon near the Pleiades

A delightful sight for the late evening: the waning moon near the Pleiades open star cluster.  This moon may shine brightly in front of the Pleiades and it will be interesting to see how many of them can be seen!

13th

Mercury superior conjunction

The planet Mercury lines up with the Sun at the 'Sphinx point' between the constellations Leo and Virgo.

21st

New moon in Virgo

This new lunar cycle begins near the star Zavijava in Virgo, with beautiful new patterns of light potentially emerging in colourful ways.  A wonderful time for renewal, purity and peace.  There is also a partial solar eclipse, visible from Antarctica and Oceania.

22nd

September Equinox

As our beautiful Sun shines among the stars of Virgo, we reach a balance point where the lengths of the days equal the lengths of the nights.  Earth's magnetosphere can show us some spectacular light displays around the equinoxes, which are beautiful transitions between the seasons.  A good time to offer out thanks to the Earth and to the waters of life.  This year, the planet Neptune reaches opposition at this equinox, adding a dreamy quality that may be a great blessing into the 'great unknown'.
